ABOUT

Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee Bob Pierce is launching a new series called the KidModz, geared toward kids ages 12-18, with the exception of Farmer City, Lincoln, and Vermilion County. These 3 tracks will allow a younger age group, however only if they can pass critical, detailed testing. The series is designed to start and keep kids in our sport. With this series, we will be building the next generation of Modified and Late Model drivers. Our intentions are to start kids with either quarter midget, go-kart, 4-cylinder, or even no driving experience, and put them through a training and testing session before being certified to race.

The plan for the series is to begin the season with 12-15 racers (or more), and to race 10-12 tracks over the summer, hitting each track 2-3 times throughout the season. We want to run this as a traveling series for kids, hopefully adding more interest and more drivers as we go. It will take a big commitment from the families who first enter the series. They will be asked to travel to all of the hosting tracks on the dates scheduled. It will be a lot of fun and a huge learning experience for these kids, as we will be racing on the same tracks as professional modified, late model, and sprint car drivers. The more we race, the more we learn.

At this point, there will not be a nightly purse payout. There will be trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, sponsored by UMP. There will be a points fund at the end of the season consisting of the money and products sponsored to us. We are talking to many sponsors at this point and will announce a complete list upon completion of our agreements.

The main goal for this series is to give the kids the experience they need before moving up the ladder. The level of experience may vary from kid to kid. It’s up to the family when the racer moves on. There is no limit or no set time a kid driver must stay in the series, except that the driver can only drive KidModz until he/she turns 18 years of age.

The frames are an all tubular version of a Modified Chassis. They must, (at this point until further established), be a new KidModz Chassis manufactured by Bob Pierce Race Cars or a used frame re-clipped by Bob Pierce Race Cars to match all the specs for this class. These are the only frames and completely assembled rolling cars that will be legal. The idea is to keep everyone on the same playing field and of course, safety first. Bob has taken the time to build a competitive car and use what he feels would be the safest for the kids.

The suspension will be similar to the existing Pierce cars except they will have a 3-link rear suspension. They will run a Sweet steering rack, unless sufficient steering for kids can be accomplished otherwise. The rear end will be a 9 in. Ford, similar to what the modifieds have run for years. The motor will be a 2300 Ford 4-cylinder motor, with some changes. Mullins Race Engines are working on building these as an optional motor of choice. There will be a (1) tire compound only rule.

KidModz will be hiring a full time President/Tech inspector. His responsibilities will be to travel track to track with the series, running the show. He will also be responsible for controlling all aspects of the series.

We ask for everyone’s help to get this off the ground. Remember, this is designed to give young drivers the experience needed to race at the next level. Track owners, KidModz could add several people (parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles) to your stands and your pits at a very low cost to you. For potential sponsors, what better idea to sponsor than a racing series designed to give to the kids who will be your next generation of drivers?

We would like to make you a part of the KidModz Racing Series. With this series, the potentials are endless. Kid Modz is an exciting form of racing, potential sponsorship, point funds, pitting with seasoned racers, training, testing, and on-track racing with other kids.
